In 2019, DIYguru partnered with Hyundai Motor India Engineering (HMIE) to provide comprehensive Electric Vehicle (EV) training aimed at upskilling their team in the EV domain. This collaboration reflects DIYguru’s commitment to advancing green mobility through education and practical hands-on experience.

Training Modules and Topics Covered

The training program was structured into three main modules: Fundamental, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each module was meticulously designed to cover various aspects of EV technology, ensuring a thorough understanding of both theoretical concepts and practical applications.

  1. Fundamental Module
    • Introduction to Electric Vehicles: History, current trends, and future scope.
    • EV Components: Detailed study of batteries, motors, controllers, and converters.
    • Battery Technology: Types, chemical reactions, and management systems.
    • Motor Principles: Working of different types of motors used in EVs.
    • Practical Sessions: Hands-on experience with motor assembly and battery calculations.
  2. Intermediate Module
    • EV Design and Development: From initial design to after-market servicing.
    • EV Systems: In-depth analysis of chassis, braking, suspension, and steering systems.
    • Powertrain and Transmission: Calculations, resistance types, and range optimization.
    • Practical Applications: Live assembly and disassembly of EV components.
  3. Advanced Module
    • Battery Management Systems: SOC, SOH, SOP, and SOE estimation models.
    • Electric Motors and Generators: Characteristics and control strategies of AC/DC motors.
    • Power Electronics: Inverters, converters, and powertrain control systems.
    • Thermal Management: Cooling techniques for motors and batteries.
    • Simulation and Testing: Practical sessions on motor control and regenerative braking.

All the above modules are now part of PG Certification Programme at DIYguru.

Duration and Location

The offline training sessions were held at DIYguru’s state-of-the-art facilities in Hyderabad, Delhi, and Pune, equipped with the latest EV lab and testing equipment.

Participants

The training program catered to six key members of the Hyundai team, selected to enhance their expertise in EV technology and prepare them for future challenges in the automotive industry. For the coordination and execution of the training program, the primary point of contact was Rajesh Mutharaju, Human Resources at Hyundai Motor India Engineering. The collaboration was facilitated through ongoing communication and support from DIYguru’s team, led by CEO Avinash Singh.
