Lead Engineer – Emobility Validation & Benchmarking

  • Work with product engineering to understand customer’s requirements and their implications for testing programs related to Power Electronic systems – EV, HEV, PHEV, Mild Hybrids. Develop test plans and test cases for eMobility products and systems to meet the customer requirements. Review test setups based on specific and standard test processes for electric vehicle Powertrain. Perform failure analysis and Implement corrective action to test setups as required by established lab procedures or test requests, or when performance falls below acceptable limits
  • Work in Close collaboration with global eMobility product development teams for taking the designs to certification / as per IS26262 and other relevant automotive safety standards.
  • Select vehicles, subsystems, and components for benchmarking. Define scope and lead projects utilizing external engineering consulting companies. Collect, interpret, and distribute relevant information benchmarking data to global engineering teams. Maintain the eMobility database of electric vehicle and power electronics. Create benchmarking test plans and coordinate execution through internal and external resources. Consult on eMobility technology roadmaps. Track program deliverables to achieve time and budget requirements. Serve as a global contact for eMobility benchmarking information.
  • Ability to Analyze and predict design performance using Simulation tools, Analytical Skills etc. Ensure Reliability growth plan, Root cause analysis, Design Robustness through application of DFSS Methodology identifying and meeting CTQ’s, Ability to generate subsystem and system level P Diagrams, FMEA. Should be able to work on digital Communication protocols like CAN, RS232, SPI, I2C etc.
  • Drives & track OTD, CTQ maturity, FPY & QOS on key growth programs
  • Should handle hardware system design including end to end product development involving complex analog & digital circuit design with 16/32 /64 bit microcontrollers based designs, development, launch support. Collaborate with mechanical, layout, and firmware engineers to successfully develop and validate the designs. Interface with Business Unit (BU) engineers to drive strong business cases for new commercial applications

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Engineering (Power Electronics, E&TC, Electronics, Instrumentation,)
  • Extensive experience in hardware system design including end to end product development involving complex analog & digital circuit design along with Power Electronics development, verification& validation, qualification & certification testing, launch support. Including Subsystem Requirements Generation from top level system specifications.
  • Significant hands-on experience with analog, digital, and power circuits development and testing
  • Modeling, simulation and analysis experience with tools like Matlab/Simulink, SPICE, PSIM tools
  • Experience working with Electronics Contract Manufacturers

  • Work closely with designers in Germany and other cross-functional teams in MBRDI.
  • Build trust and relationship with counterparts at MB Germany.
  • Handle a team of 6 to 8 engineers and provide technical direction to team members.

Essential Skills:

  • Good knowledge in commercial vehicle chassis and in particular electric vehicle cooling systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • PDM/PLM experience (Preferably Team center)
  • GD&T, DFMEA & FEA knowledge
  • Well versed in handling 3D CAD software, preferably NX
  • Experience with leading a team of 8 to 10 members.
