Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Lab Technician/Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing our state-of-the-art hardware labs and delivering hands-on training to students in electric vehicle technology, battery management, and related fields. This role is perfect for someone with a strong technical background and a passion for teaching and mentoring. As a Lab Technician/Instructor, you will play a crucial role in providing practical training that complements our theoretical courses, helping students gain real-world experience and technical skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lab Management and Maintenance: Oversee the daily operations of the hardware labs, including maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring a safe and clean environment. Conduct regular inspections and calibrations to keep lab equipment in optimal working condition.
• Deliver Hands-On Training: Conduct practical training sessions on topics such as electric vehicle assembly, battery technology, power electronics, and renewable energy systems. Guide students through hands-on projects and exercises, ensuring they understand and apply technical concepts effectively.
• Develop Lab Exercises and Projects: Design and implement lab exercises, experiments, and projects that align with DIYguru’s curriculum and industry standards. Ensure that these activities are challenging, educational, and provide students with practical, job-ready skills.
• Support Course Instructors: Collaborate with course instructors to integrate lab sessions into the broader educational program. Provide technical support during lectures and workshops, and assist in the development of course materials that include practical components.
• Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the lab environment. Conduct safety training for students and staff, and maintain up-to-date documentation on safety procedures.
• Student Mentorship and Support: Provide guidance and mentorship to students during lab sessions, helping them troubleshoot problems and develop technical proficiency. Offer feedback and support to enhance their learning experience.
• Technical Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous learning. Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Inventory and Resource Management: Manage lab inventory, order supplies, and track usage to ensure the availability of materials and equipment necessary for effective training sessions. Maintain detailed records of equipment usage and maintenance.

Requirements

• A diploma or degree in Engineering, Automotive Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Lab Technician, Instructor, or in a similar technical role, preferably within an educational or training environment.
• Hands-on experience with electric vehicle components, battery technology, renewable energy systems, or related hardware.
• Strong technical skills in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting lab equipment and tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for teaching and mentoring students.
• Ability to develop and deliver engaging hands-on training sessions that enhance learning and technical proficiency.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices for maintaining a safe laboratory environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
