Ayush Sharma is the technological visionary behind DIYguru, where he serves as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Co-Founder, while working as a Researcher in Germany in the domain of experimental physics. With a rich background in nanotechnology, material science, and advanced software development for synchrotron physics, Ayush has been instrumental in steering DIYguru towards becoming a premier platform for advanced engineering education, particularly in Electric Vehicle (EV) technology. His extensive research experience in Germany, in the field of Nanotechnology, Synchrotron Physics and Material Science, working with leading facilities like Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, has deepened his expertise in high-energy physics and sensor systems, further enriching DIYguru’s technical ecosystem. Ayush's contributions to both the German and Indian startup ecosystems underscore his unique ability to blend cutting-edge research with practical, industry-aligned education.

As part of my doctoral research, I am engaged with the German Synchrotron Radiation Facility, Hamburg, where I am developing, implementing, and analyzing an advanced smart sensor system. This pioneering work is designed to enable Synchrotron users to perform real-time execution and detailed analysis of high-energy X-ray sources. Focused on nanoscale aberrations, distortions, and coherence properties, the sensor system is adept at conducting immediate analysis of how beamline optics influence beam properties. This project represents a seamless integration of research, physics, nanotechnology, and software development, highlighting my commitment to pushing the boundaries of science and technology.

In December 2017, Ayush co-founded DIYguru with Avinash Kumar Singh. His mission was to create a platform that provides accessible, affordable, and high-quality technical education. As the CTO, Ayush oversees the technological aspects of the company, ensuring that the platform remains innovative and industry-relevant. His efforts have been crucial in DIYguru’s aim to upskill one million students over a decade.

Ayush embodies the concept of “Sciencepreneurship,” which perfectly captures his motivation to merge research with entrepreneurship. His primary goal is to make education affordable for everyone. This was achieved through the DIYguru E-Mobility Institute, where he and his team have kept program costs stable for the past four years, absorbing inflation costs to ensure that students can access emerging E-Mobility fields without financial worries.

Ayush’s background as a scientist and mentor has enabled him to make a significant impact at the societal level. His direct interactions with students not only allow him to expand his own knowledge but also to actively participate in their career development, helping them overcome personal and professional challenges.

He is dedicated to creating an institute that not only follows industry trends but also shapes the ecosystem in which industries look to educational institutions for guidance on technological advancements. This is crucial in the Indian education sector, where there is a noticeable dependency on industries for technology and skill updates. Ayush advocates for a balanced growth model where both educational institutions and industries contribute equally.

Looking ahead, Ayush is focused on areas such as Advanced Mobility Analytics, Software-Defined Vehicles, AI for Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and Fuel Cell Technology for hardware applications. He takes pride in DIYguru’s commitment to continuous education, encapsulated in the belief that “once a student of DIYguru, always a student of DIYguru.”

This commitment ensures that all DIYguru students, including those from as far back as 2020, have the opportunity to upgrade to better versions of their programs, such as moving from a 6-month nanodegree to a 12-month hardware-enabled PG Certification, without any additional costs. Through these initiatives, Ayush ensures that his students remain at the cutting edge of technology and industry demands.

Balancing professional research with managing one’s own startup ecosystem is indeed a complex and demanding endeavor. It’s a journey marked by a high level of motivation and passion, which is essential for navigating the overlapping demands of research and entrepreneurship.

For someone like Ayush, who is deeply integrated into both the research and startup ecosystems, the support of understanding team members and supervisors is crucial. His involvement with DIYguru has opened doors to the Hamburg Startup Ecosystem, allowing him to bridge the startup cultures of India and Germany with a shared vision. This synergy not only enhances his entrepreneurial journey but also enriches his research, particularly in fields like nanotechnology, physics, and E-Mobility.

One of the perennial challenges of this dual role is the inability to take breaks. Research demands, such as PhD deadlines, often clash with urgent needs at the startup, leaving little room for personal time. The key to managing this continuous cycle lies in finding the right balance—an iterative process that involves learning how to carve out time for personal life amidst professional commitments.

This balancing act is not something that can be easily quantified or explained; it’s something that must be experienced and felt. It requires a deep commitment and a robust support system to thrive in such a dynamic and challenging environment.

The best part of balancing professional research with entrepreneurship, particularly for someone deeply involved in education like Ayush, is the profound sense of fulfillment that comes from supporting students and advancing the educational framework. This commitment to being the change he wants to see in the world fuels his passion and drives his entrepreneurial spirit.

Entrepreneurship, especially in the education sector, often demands a selfless approach. For Ayush, this has not only made him a better professional but has also equipped him to handle challenges and plan strategically for the future—both for the learners and the learning systems themselves.

Navigating this path allows him to harmonize the business operations with financial management, ensuring that the mission of accessible, quality education remains sustainable. This delicate balance of contributing to societal change while managing a growing business is, undoubtedly, the most rewarding aspect of his journey.

For Ayush, the future represents an evolved version of the present, where the journey of growth and innovation continues unceasingly. Central to this future is maintaining and enhancing the confidence of his learners, his company, and the broader community in his training programs and vision for change. This commitment is driven by a clear focus on steering E-Mobility towards advanced technologies and next-generation domains.

Ayush’s aim is to contribute significantly to both national and global progress by fostering a better ecosystem for learning and innovation. His efforts are directed towards empowering the bright minds of the future, ensuring that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. This forward-looking approach underscores his dedication to not just participating in but actively shaping the future of education and technology.

In addition to his work at DIYguru, Ayush is actively involved in several other ventures and initiatives. He is the founder of DPEL in Germany, which focuses on creating ideal learning solutions in advanced technologies and green tech. He is also a member of AI.STARTUP.HUB Hamburg, where he contributes to AI and quality education projects.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Ayush is passionate about sustainability, technology, and continuous learning. He enjoys exploring new advancements in the tech world, mentoring aspiring engineers, and participating in outdoor activities. His commitment to personal and professional growth is reflected in his proactive approach to staying ahead of industry trends.

Ayush Sharma’s technological vision and leadership continue to drive DIYguru’s mission forward, empowering the next generation of engineers and technologists to innovate and excel in the ever-evolving landscape of sustainable technology.
