Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is a car with a combination of a traditional internal combustion engine and a rechargeable battery, allowing for either pure electric-powered driving or extended range from a combination of the petrol engine and electric motor. It is a regular hybrid with a bigger battery that you can plug into a wall socket to charge, instead of using the engine or regenerative braking. Most PHEVs are passenger cars, but there are also PHEV versions of commercial vehicles and vans, utility trucks, buses, trains, motorcycles, mopeds, and even military vehicles.
