Our privacy policy is designed to respect student rights while maintaining the integrity of the educational experience.

Data Privacy

At DIYguru, we are dedicated to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our students’ personal data. Our commitment to data security is aligned with international data protection regulations, and we ensure that no personal information is shared with unauthorized third parties without explicit consent from the student, unless required by law.

Our privacy policy is designed to respect student rights while maintaining the integrity of the educational experience. The following guidelines outline how we manage student data:

a) Purpose of Data Use: Student information is collected and used solely for the purposes of academic program delivery, course administration, and support services. This includes activities such as conducting internal performance analysis, generating reports for authorized internal and external parties (e.g., academic partners, government agencies, auditors), and improving program quality.

b) Access to Student Data: Only authorized staff members and faculty involved in program delivery have access to student records. This ensures that sensitive information is handled with the utmost care and used only for educational or administrative purposes.

For more details on how we collect, store, use, disclose, transfer, and dispose of personal data, please refer to DIYguru’s Privacy Policy on our website.

Grievance Policy

At DIYguru, we are committed to ensuring a positive and constructive learning environment for all our students. We understand that concerns may arise during the course of study, and we take every grievance seriously. We treat all complaints with strict confidentiality and work toward a fair resolution process, ensuring that only authorized personnel handle grievances on a need-to-know basis.

In case students have any grievances, they are encouraged to follow this process:

  1. Initial Support: Students are encouraged to reach out to their course mentors for initial advice or assistance. Most concerns can be resolved at this level through direct communication.
  2. Program Support: If the issue is not resolved, students can contact DIYguru’s Program Support Team. Grievances must be submitted in writing and include the student’s name, course details, and cohort information.
  3. Follow-Up Session: Upon receiving the grievance, a follow-up appointment will be arranged with a senior member of the Program Support Team. This session can be held via web-based video conferencing or over the phone.
  4. Investigation and Resolution: DIYguru will notify students in writing of the outcome of the review, investigation, and actions taken, if applicable. Depending on the complexity of the issue, resolutions may take between 3 to 20 working days.
  5. Escalation and Mediation: If the grievance cannot be resolved internally, students may escalate the matter to an external mediation service. This may involve third-party mediation or arbitration, in line with the legal frameworks of the country of operation.

By maintaining an open and fair grievance process, DIYguru strives to resolve all issues transparently and efficiently, ensuring that students feel supported throughout their educational journey.

Code of Conduct

All students enrolling in DIYguru’s PG & Certification programs must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, which sets out the standards of behavior expected during the program:

  1. Respectful Interactions: Students are expected to interact with DIYguru staff, faculty, and fellow students in a professional and courteous manner. This includes participating in discussions with respect for diverse perspectives, cultures, and opinions.
  2. Professional Behavior: Students must maintain a professional attitude both within the virtual classroom and during any community interactions (e.g., working with recruiters, attending events, or participating in networking opportunities). Disruptive behavior that interferes with the learning experience of others will not be tolerated.
  3. Harassment-Free Environment: DIYguru maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward harassment. Unlawful harassment includes offensive comments, derogatory remarks, inappropriate physical contact, unwelcome sexual advances, or any behavior that creates a hostile or intimidating environment.
  4. Academic Integrity: Students are expected to complete all coursework independently. Acts of academic dishonesty, such as plagiarism, cheating, forgery, or falsifying data, are strictly prohibited. Students must not misrepresent their work, submit assignments completed by others, or share exam solutions.
  5. Platform Usage: Each student must use a single, personal account to access the DIYguru platform. Account credentials should not be shared with others, and students are responsible for the security of their accounts.

Failure to adhere to these policies may result in disciplinary actions, including grade penalties, suspension from the program, or dismissal from the platform. Any violations will be reviewed by the escalation team, and the course of action determined will be final and non-appealable. Dismissal from the program due to misconduct will also result in the forfeiture of any program fees, with no refunds granted.

Principles Relating to Misconduct

Misconduct, whether academic or behavioral, is handled on a case-by-case basis to ensure fairness and transparency. Investigations are conducted confidentially, and no student is deemed to have committed misconduct until proven otherwise.

  1. Confidentiality: All details related to the student and the misconduct case will be kept confidential and only shared with relevant parties on a need-to-know basis.
  2. Fair Evaluation: Every case of misconduct is evaluated individually, considering all surrounding circumstances. Prior behavior is not assumed to predict future misconduct unless there is a pattern of behavior relevant to the case.
  3. Rights of Students: Students involved in misconduct investigations are informed of their rights and responsibilities throughout the process. The aim is to reach a fair and just resolution.

Disciplinary Actions, Suspension, and Dismissal

DIYguru reserves the right to impose disciplinary actions, up to and including dismissal, for any violations of program policies or the Code of Conduct. Reasons for disciplinary actions include, but are not limited to:

a) Academic dishonesty or misconduct.
b) Failure to meet academic performance standards.
c) Non-payment of fees or failure to meet financial obligations.
d) Submission of fraudulent information or documents.
e) Breach of program rules and regulations.

Disciplinary actions may include verbal warnings, written warnings, grade reductions, suspension, or permanent dismissal from the program. Students have the right to appeal any decisions in writing within 10 working days of notification. Appeals will be reviewed by the Examination Board, and decisions will be communicated within four weeks.

Withdrawal, Refund, and Deferral Policies

DIYguru is committed to offering a fair and transparent policy for program withdrawals, refunds, and deferrals. These policies are communicated to all students during pre-course counseling and are available on the website.

Refunds for Withdrawal Due to Non-Delivery:

If DIYguru is unable to deliver a course as scheduled (e.g., course cancellation, non-commencement), students will be entitled to a full refund of course fees. This refund will be processed within seven working days after the student submits a withdrawal request in writing.

Withdrawal for Other Reasons:

Students who choose to withdraw for personal or professional reasons will receive refunds based on the following scale:

  • 100% refund if the request is made more than 60 days before the course start date.
  • 75% refund if the request is made between 31-60 days before the course start date.
  • 50% refund if the request is made up to 30 days before the course start date.
  • 10% refund if the request is made within 7 days after the course start date.
  • 0% refund if more than 7 days have passed after the course start date.

Refunds are processed within seven working days of receiving a written withdrawal request. Application fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Deferrals:

Students may request a one-time deferral to the next available cohort. Deferrals are subject to program availability, payment of any outstanding fees, and a deferral fee, if applicable.

Attendance and Program Completion

Students are required to participate in at least 75% of the course activities, including quizzes, assignments, and interactive sessions, to meet the minimum participation requirement. Failing to meet this requirement may result in grade penalties or program withdrawal.

Program Completion:

Most programs operate on a cohort basis, meaning students are expected to complete their coursework alongside their peers. Extensions may only be granted under exceptional circumstances, such as medical or personal emergencies, and are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Student Progress Reports and Graduation

Students can monitor their academic progress through the DIYguru Learning Management System (LMS). Official progress reports can be requested from the Program Support Team. There is a fee associated with official hard copy reports. Students who complete all program requirements will be awarded their certificates upon approval by the Examination Board.

Certification:

Upon successful completion, students will receive digital certificates, which can be shared on professional platforms like LinkedIn or included in resumes. These certificates will be issued two weeks after the program ends.

Placement Support

All students enrolled in DIYguru’s PG & Certification programs receive exclusive access to emobility.careers, a dedicated platform for career and placement support. This platform connects students with job opportunities in the electric vehicle (EV) and e-mobility sectors, offering career guidance, interview preparation, and job matching services to help students transition seamlessly from education to employment.
