DIYguru, in partnership with the Government of Karnataka and the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), launched a pioneering training program aimed at upskilling ITI students in Electric Vehicle (EV) technology. This initiative, under the Udyoga scheme, focuses on creating a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of the evolving EV industry.

Training Modules and Topics Covered

The training program was divided into short-term and long-term courses to provide comprehensive education and practical skills in EV technology.

Short-Term Training Modules:

  1. EV Basics:
    • Introduction to Electric Vehicles and their components.
    • Overview of the EV industry and market trends.
  2. Battery Management:
    • Battery types, safety protocols, and management systems.
    • Charging infrastructure and lifecycle management.
  3. EV Maintenance and Servicing:
    • Diagnostic techniques and troubleshooting.
    • Routine maintenance procedures for EVs.

Long-Term Training Modules:

  1. Advanced EV Design and Development:
    • Detailed study of EV powertrain components.
    • Simulation and modeling of EV systems.
  2. EV Manufacturing and Assembly:
    • Hands-on training in assembling EV components.
    • Quality control and testing methods.
  3. EV Business and Management:
    • Market analysis, business models, and sustainability.
    • Financial planning and entrepreneurship in the EV sector.

Objectives and Outcomes of Training

Objectives:

  • To equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge in EV technology.
  • To create job opportunities and foster entrepreneurship in the EV industry.
  • To align training with industry requirements, ensuring students are job-ready upon completion.

Outcomes:

  • Over 6000 students trained in the first two years, with a target of 20,000 highly skilled individuals annually.
  • Increased employability and entrepreneurship opportunities for ITI graduates.
  • Enhanced technical and managerial skills among participants, preparing them for various roles in the EV sector.

Duration and Place

The training programs were conducted across 150 Government-owned ITIs in Karnataka, with an initial focus on 20+ ITIs in urban areas and around Bangalore. The training duration varied from short-term courses lasting a few weeks to long-term programs spanning 12-18 months.

The program targeted ITI students, particularly those in urban areas and Bangalore. The initiative aimed to transform these students into industry-ready professionals capable of contributing to the EV sector’s growth.
