The Basics

What this Session Covers

Most engineers understand that EVs are different from ICE vehicles — but the manufacturing decisions that make that difference real are rarely explained clearly. This session goes into those decisions: how skateboard platform architecture changes the way structural loads are managed, how mega casting consolidates what were previously multi-part stamped assemblies, and how Industry 4.0 principles are being applied in real production environments.

Harshit Thakral approaches these topics from a product development and prototyping standpoint. The goal is not to survey the industry from the outside but to give you enough engineering depth to understand what's actually changing on the factory floor and in design teams — and what skills become relevant as a result.

The session closes with a direct look at how these technical shifts translate into career opportunities — which backgrounds transition most directly, and where the genuine skill gaps are that engineering teams are trying to fill right now.

What you will learn
1
Skateboard Chassis Architecture
How the flat-floor EV platform works and why it changes how vehicles are designed
2
Mega Casting in Practice
From 70+ stamped parts to one gigapress casting — the technique spreading across OEMs
3
Industry 4.0 on the Factory Floor
Digital twins, automated assembly, AI quality control — real roles, not buzzwords
4
2026 EV Career Pathways
Which backgrounds transition cleanest, what roles are opening, salary benchmarks in rupees
Session Highlights

Four Things You'll Walk Away With

01
A complete mental model of EV manufacturing

From raw materials and platform design to factory assembly and software integration — the full picture in one session, explained clearly.

02
Clarity on where you fit in the industry

Mechanical, electrical, electronics, or software — Harshit maps the entry points and transition paths for every engineering background.

03
Context on the technologies that matter most

The two structural shifts — Skateboard Chassis and Mega Casting — that are changing what automotive engineers actually build day to day.

04
The 2026 EV Career Roadmap (sent to you)

Role breakdowns, salary ranges in rupees, and the skill gaps that actually matter to hiring managers at OEMs, Tier-1s, and EV startups.

About the Speaker

The Engineer Behind This Session

HT
Harshit Thakral
Co-founder, Spanda 3D  |  EV Manufacturing Educator

Harshit is the co-founder of Spanda 3D, working at the intersection of additive manufacturing, EV platform engineering, and product prototyping. His work spans the physical side of vehicle development — from structural design through to manufacturing process selection and factory readiness. In this session, he brings that hands-on perspective to three areas where conventional automotive thinking is being fundamentally replaced: the move to skateboard platforms, the adoption of giga-casting in structural manufacturing, and the digitisation of production environments under Industry 4.0 frameworks. If you want to understand how modern EVs are actually built rather than just described, this is the session.
